I am Desmond, the person who writes Note Swift from a flat in Telok Blangah. This site is a personal blog — not a company, not a news desk, not a consultancy. What you read here are slips and small essays drawn from ordinary days: walks, cups of kopi, hill paths, bus bays, windows, void decks. I publish them because writing clarifies what memory otherwise keeps fuzzy.
I grew up in Singapore, studied here, and have lived in a few neighbourhoods without becoming an expert in any of them. Telok Blangah is home now. I mention harbour cranes, interchange bays, void decks, and hill paths because they are part of my week, not because I represent an estate or an organisation. If something reads like advice, treat it as one person's preference stated plainly, not instruction you must follow.
My tone is deliberate — warm, steady, slightly wry on purpose. I avoid hype words and grand claims. I do not sell products, courses, or mailing lists. There are no comments sections; if you wish to respond, use the say hello page and email me directly. I read messages myself during quiet hours in early mornings, Singapore time.
Images on this site are chosen to match slips, not to decorate empty space. Maps show Telok Blangah Hill Park as a neighbourhood anchor; you control whether embedded maps load. Cookies are explained on the cookies page in language I hope you can skim once and understand.
One piece on this site describes an evening on 12 November 2025 near 51 Chin Swee Road after late supper along Havelock Road. I include it because it happened on my walk home and because personal blogs should be allowed to hold evenings that resist tidy summary. I say only what I heard and saw from a distance. I do not speculate about what I cannot know.
Everything here is my own view at the time of writing. It is not medical, legal, financial, or professional advice of any kind. If I have got a detail wrong, email me and I will correct it with thanks. Note Swift is hosted independently, funded by nothing other than my stubbornness and ordinary household budget I do not itemise here because this site carries no amounts at all.
My reading habits feed the writing: essays, nature writing, the occasional novel that makes me notice dialogue on the bus. I write in British spelling because it matches the English I was schooled in here. I write about Singapore because it is where my feet are — void decks, wet markets, hill paths, the harbour seen from high floors.
I revise slips when clarity demands it, which is not often. I prefer the first honest draft when it still carries the temperature of the hour in which it was written. If you see a small change, it is likely a typo or a date — not a rewrite of memory to suit a reader.
My routines feed the writing: first kopi below the flats, pre-dawn hill paths, the same bus driver each week, radio at low volume with the window open, noticeboards I pretend not to read. They are not content strategy. They are life, written down.
If that suits you, stay awhile. If not, leave without guilt. Small sites should behave like good guests — present, polite, easy to ignore.

Disclaimer. Note Swift is a personal blog operated by Desmond, an individual in Singapore. All entries, slips, photographs, and page text reflect my personal views, experiences, memories, and impressions at the time of writing. They are offered for reading and reflection only.
